best snorkel sites

Do you want to discover the underwater world, but don’t feel like diving? You can still discover the amazing underwater world by snorkeling. Curacao offers the best snorkeling conditions because the waters are safe, calm, and crystal-clear! I explored some amazing snorkel sites for you and found the best snorkel sites. I have been surrounded by schools of tropical fish, giant corals, and a bunch of sea turtles! Curious where? Keep on reading and you will find out.

Curacao’s most famous wreck: Tugboat

Along the east side of Curacao, close to the famous Jan Thiel beach, you can find ‘Tugboat’.

Besides this is also one of the favorite sites for diving, ‘Tugboat’ is also a great spot for snorkeling. The site is named after the wreck you can find over here. The wreck sunk years ago and is now at a depth of +/- 5 meters. Because of the amazing visibility, it is possible to see the wreck from the surface.

The wreck in itself is already amazing, but it also offers a great place for a lot of fish and other sea creatures. Together it makes a one of the best snorkel sites, don’t you think?

Do you want to discover this amazing spot? Ask me about the East Coast Trip. The first stop during this full-day trip will be at ‘Tugboat’. Here, a guided snorkel tour lead by one of our professional crew members will take place.

A real hidden gem: Blue Room

best snorkel sites

On the other side of the island, the West Coast, there is an amazing cave they call ‘The Blue Room’. The name is exactly describing what this spot will be like, a bright blue cave!

You can find this spot nearby a little beach called ‘Santa Cruz’, but this Blue Room is a hidden gem. There is a little opening in the rocks, where you either can enter the cave by snorkeling or a little swim underwater depending on the tides.

This hidden gem is only accessible from a boat, but another option is to walk from the beach Santa Cruz, where a path will take you to the cave. This will take around 20 minutes and has some obstacles like climbing. But once you’ve entered the cave, you will be amazed by the number of fish, the amazing blue lights, and the big rocks. I promise you will like this place!

Did I convinced you to go to the Blue Room, but don’t feel like taking a 20 minutes during walk (I wouldn’t do it)? Ask me about the full-day West Coast Trip. During this trip with a live cooking BBQ buffet, you will make a stop at the Blue Room and here you have enough time to discover this amazing snorkel spot!

Turtles everywhere at Playa Grandi

One of the oldest sea creatures is the sea turtle. These animals are roaming around for about 150 million years!

At Playa Grandi, the chance to see one (or more) are almost 100 percent. At this beach, the local fishermen sell their freshly caught fish. Because they clean the catch of the day and throw the ‘residues’ in the sea, the sea turtles come here to get a nice snack.

It is a unique experience to snorkel with sea turtles on itself, but the turtles are so close to you, you could touch them (but don’t do this;)). You really can’t skip this spot when you are visiting Curacao and looking for the best spots to snorkel!

Discover a small uninhabited island: Klein Curacao

Enjoying the sun on a small uninhabited island is something everybody thought about at least one time in their life.

Visiting Klein Curacao is a dream come through. With its white beachesclear-blue waters, and nice and small lighthouse, this is the ultimate spot to enjoy your holiday. It is also an amazing spot for snorkeling, because of the clear waters. You will find a lot of tropical fish here and sea turtles as well.

Besides the fish and sea turtles, you have a chance to see some dolphins and stingrays as well.

I am one of the few captains who will bring you to Klein Curacao. On the island, you can enjoy walking around while exploring the old lighthouse and the two massive shipwrecks

Swimming with pigs at Playa Porto Marie

snorkeling curacao

Playa Porto Marie is also known as the ´pig beach’. At this beach, some pigs enjoy the sun and the sea as much as I do. Besides this fun thing, this is also an amazing spot for snorkeling.

There is a pier in the middle where you can find big and colorful fish. If you swim a little further, you will find the riff and over here you can find more fish and some corals.

This is one of my favorite spots because you can dive here as well!

The most healthy corals accessible from shore: Blue Bay ‘The Wall’

At one of the most relaxing beaches at Curacao, it is possible to see the most healthy corals just by walking in from shore.

With a little swim out of the bay, you will find big and colorful corals, but also a lot of tropical fish. After your snorkel stop, you can have a great lunch or dinner at the restaurant or bar at the beach of Blue Bay. Sounds good, right?!
