Klein Curacao is one of the most popular excursions during a stay at Curacao. This small island is on a lot of “Must do” lists and most people dream of going to this uninhabited island. Good thing I can make those dreams come true and can take everybody on this bucket list experience to Klein Curacao. Let me tell you why you want to go with me and experience it for yourself.
Small and personal
The right size motorized catamaran offers enough space for people to come and enjoy a good boat trip. No big masses but smaller groups of people. Two departure places
I have not one but two places I can pick you up from with the boat. The first one is Blue Bay and the other one is the Corendon Mangrove Resort (exclusively for their guests). Perfect if you stay on the Bandabou side of Curacao and want to go to Klein Curacao. At Blue Bay we departure around 7 am, which means you can stay in bed longer because you don’t have to make a long car ride first. And if you stay at the Corendon Mangrove Resort even better! We departure their around 7.30 am at the hotels own pier. You roll out of bed to the pier and of you go.
Extra time on the water
The departure at Blue Bay or the Corendon Mangrove Resort has one more advantage. You can enjoy the boat ride even longer. Experience the freedom of being on the water, lean back and slowly wake up in the upcoming sunshine. If you departure from Blue Bay it will take around 3 hours and from Corendon it is about 2 hours and 45 minutes, depending on the weather conditions of course. The waves are almost always against us on our way to Klein Curacao, thus the high of the waves and the amount of wind can influence the travel time. Tip: Are you more sensitive for motion sickness? It is wise to take a motion sickness pill before departure, this saves you from feeling sick on the way there. But that is up to you.
Uninhabited island
After a morning boat ride, we will arrive at Klein Curacao around roughly 10 am. A small uninhabited island, where you can completely relax and recharge. No phone calls or Whatsapps because the reception is minimal to non. You are on an island without electricity and running sweet water. Enjoy it! Feel your inner pirate or explorer and go on to discover this beautiful island or the underwater world.
Get to know Klein Curacao
It is recommended to go and discover the island by foot in the morning. The sun burns hard on the island and therefore the morning is better for land discovering and the afternoon for underwater discovering. In the morning one of the crew members will happily guide over the island. Discover why the lighthouse is the only building on the island and see how powerful mother nature is at the shipwrecks and more.
Freshly prepared lunch
After the walk it is almost time for the lunch. Around noon the barbecue buffet is served on the boat. There you can choose out of two salads and three types of meat. And if you don’t want to choose you can have it all as well. Are you a vegetarian or have other diet wishes? Let us now upon the booking and we will prepare something special for you. The whole day drinks are included but around lunch is the perfect time to maybe have a beer which is included in the standard bar. If you prefer wine or something stronger take your pick from the premium bar. The premium bar can be added to your booking upon booking or at the boat during the trip.
Turtles on Klein Curacao
Off course we cannot promise turtles because they are wild animals in nature but if you stick around boat after lunch you will have a very, very big chance of seeing a turtle. The turtles almost always show up to check if the different boats have any leftovers after the lunch. Enjoy and watch them from the boat or jump in the water and snorkel with the turtles and the other tropical fish. If you have been snorkeling and want to know which fish you saw? You can ask the crew or look them up in the books about fish which are present at the boat and discover the names of the different fish.
Relaxed boat ride back
After a day of new impressions and lots of beach fun and sun, we will slowly start heading back around 2 pm. Completely recharged on Klein Curacao everyone can enjoy the boat ride back to Curacao. Relax on the fat boys or in the net at the front of the boat or pick a spot in the shade. Sit back and relax or even take a little nap. On our way back we are going with the waves and therefore this is a lot more calmer than on the way there. If we are lucky we can maybe spot some wild dolphins or other marine life jumping out of the water.
